Today I give thanks for the kitchen table
made of scavenged barn boards, where
my love and I have gathered to feast.
I say thank you to the scarred surface
which wears rings from sweating drinks
and remembers the heat of too many
arguments without a winner, as well as
the softer warmth of words we offer
