Thank you for sharing, James. Every weekend, I sit on the back patio and observe what new wonders nature has decided to display. I inevitably find myself walking the yard with my camera and snapping photos and basking in that peace and joy.
Thank you James for the reminder to approach this day and everyday ‘leaning into beauty’. Bing Crosby’s song (thank you Dwight Lee Wolter) that I hadn’t heard in ages says it well:
Thank you for this beautiful reminder and invitation to meet it all and to find the beauty still while also feeling the ache. This feels like the wholeness of human.
There is a chasm
Between holding on
And letting go
In which a moment
May feel like eternity
And eternity may feel
Like a moment.
In this chasm of trust
All that is known is released
Into all that is unknown.
Letting go is sometimes frightening
But always courageous.
This chasm of possibility
Is where transformation is born.
I love this so much, Dwight. Such truth in these lines!
Thank you, James. I wrote it immediately after reading your poem and comment.
Beautiful! Did you write this ?
Yes. I wrote it in immediate response to reading James Crews’ post.
I absolutely love it and may well share it with others (with full attribution to you) if that's ok.
Have at it, Barb! And thank you. Peace, Dwight
Thank you for this. I pray every day to find that sweet spot between not looking away and protecting my peace. Not easy.
It is never easy, and I fail every day. But oh, those moments when peace comes...
Laura, I completely relate to your comment. That's the teeter-totter, is it not?
Beautiful. My joyful place right now is in the community of people who are standing up and speaking up to protect humanity.
I find so much hope in community and protest too.

Thank you James for the reminder to approach this day and everyday ‘leaning into beauty’. Bing Crosby’s song (thank you Dwight Lee Wolter) that I hadn’t heard in ages says it well:
“You gotta ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive)
(Eliminate the negative)
(Latch on to the affirmative)
(Don't mess with Mister In Between)
You got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom down to the minimum, (then)
Otherwise, (otherwise)
Pandemonium liable to walk upon the scene”
Yup!
Thank you for this beautiful reminder and invitation to meet it all and to find the beauty still while also feeling the ache. This feels like the wholeness of human.
Sweet scents, softness, ¡sí!
As strong as searing stabbings.
Small, spectacular.
Yes, leaning in, thank you James.
And thank you for your poems that help us to lean in, too.
Beautiful, James, and the photograph is exquisite.
